The Invisibles

This is a series of photographs about children who have witnessed cruel events unfolding between the people meant to be their safest refuge: their parents. Domestic violence leaves its mark on a child even when they are not its direct target. A mark that is often irreversible.

My intention is to make these children visible. To tell their stories without revealing their faces. Because in our country, they remain largely unprotected.

To care is disarmingly simple. It requires no time, only attention. Children are all around us: in courtyards, in kindergartens, in schools. One grows quiet and withdrawn, another carries bruises, a third becomes restless, overtaken by agitation or aggression. These things are rarely spoken of. And yet, a single attentive glance, a gentle, timely question can alter the course of a life. A child has the right to childhood.

My heroes are twelve children from Misto Dobra, a crisis center for mothers and children in Ukraine.

The Invisibles - unseen children, who have finally been seen.
