About

Dasha Tenditna is a Ukrainian photographer based in Cambridge, working across portraiture, editorial and documentary photography.

With over fifteen years of experience, she has developed a distinctive approach shaped by long-term social documentary projects and a deep interest in people and their lived experiences.

Her work has explored themes of identity, displacement, motherhood, resilience, disability and belonging, and has been commissioned by universities, publishers, charities and cultural organisations.

Alongside documentary projects, Dasha creates portraits of artists, academics, writers and individuals whose work and lives contribute to the cultural landscape of their communities.

She approaches every assignment with the same intention: to create thoughtful, lasting images that reflect the complexity and dignity of the person in front of the camera.

Artist Statement

Photography is an act of attention.

Every time I make an image, I am making a decision about what deserves to be seen, remembered and understood.

I believe photography has the power to change the way we look at one another. It can bring attention to people and subjects that are often overlooked, challenge assumptions, and create a deeper connection between strangers.

My work is rooted in curiosity and responsibility. I am drawn to stories of human experience: to resilience, vulnerability, beauty and the quiet details that reveal who we are.

I am interested not only in what photographs show, but in what they make us notice. A portrait can become a moment of recognition; a documentary image can become a reason to care or to act.

If someone sees themselves with more kindness through one of my photographs, or sees another person with more understanding, then the image has achieved something meaningful.

This is why I photograph.
